SNAP Market Match is the program previously known as “Fresh Bucks.” This program matches Basic Food benefits (SNAP/EBT/Food Stamps) and Pandemic-EBT (P-EBT) dollar-for-dollar for up to $40 in fresh produce per shopper per day. To get Market Match you must already have basic food benefits.

In Whatcom County, SNAP Market Match is available at the Bellingham Farmers Market, Twin Sisters Farmers Markets in Birchwood, Nugent’s Corner, and Kendall, and Lynden Farmers Market.

Twin Sisters Markets in Birchwood, Nugent’s Corner, and Kendall offer a Point-of-Sale discount – receive half off your produce purchase, up to $10 off.  Fill your cart or basket with any fresh produce, and receive up to $10 off of your produce purchases at check-out.  (For example, bring $20 of produce to check-out, and you will only be charged $10 on your EBT card.  Bring $10 of produce, and you will be charged $5 on your EBT card).

Swipe, Get Tokens, Shop.  Go to the info booth (near the bathrooms under covered area) to swipe your EBT card, and receive both SNAP tokens and Market Match coupons to use at any vendor.  SNAP tokens can be used to purchase any SNAP-eligible items found at the markets, such as milk, eggs, cheese, yogurt, meat, fruits and veggies.  Market Match can be used for fruits, veggies, mushrooms, herbs, and fruit and veggie starts.

Yes, if you don’t spend all of your SNAP tokens or Market Match dollars at the Bellingham Farmers’ Market, you can bring them back later in the season to spend on eligible items.

Markets match $25 or more per day, check the participating markets list below and with your local market for their daily match amount.

Unfortunately, you can only purchase and use SNAP Market Match by swiping your EBT card in person at the market each time you shop.

At the Twin Sisters Markets, the discount will be immediately subtracted from your bill when you checkout using your EBT card.

At the Bellingham Farmers’ Market, you can hold onto and spend your Market Match to use throughout the market season.
