SNAP Match Programs

There are many reasons why fruits and vegetables might not make it into your diet. The Washington State Department of Health and other organizations across the state are working together to offer SNAP Match programs that make fruits and vegetables easier to buy.

Currently, there are two Snap Match programs available in Whatcom County:

SNAP Market Match matches Basic Food benefits (SNAP/ EBT/ Food Stamps) dollar-for-dollar when you purchase $25 or more worth of fresh produce at participating farmers markets.

In Whatcom County, SNAP Market Match is available at the Bellingham Farmers Market, Twin Sisters Farmers Markets in Birchwood, Deming, and Kendall, Lynden Farmers Market, and EN Valley Farmers Market in Everson.

Fresh vegetables, fruits, mushrooms, herbs, and food-producing plants and seeds at participating markets.

Markets match $25 or more per day. Check with your local market for their daily match amount.

SNAP Produce Match helps shoppers stretch their food budget to buy more fruits and vegetables when they use Basic Food benefits (SNAP/ EBT/ Food Stamps) at participating grocery stores.

In Whatcom County, SNAP Produce Match is available at Community Food Co-Op stores in Bellingham, and Safeway in Bellingham and Lynden.

Use your SNAP/EBT card to buy at least $10 in fresh, frozen, and canned fruits and vegetables with no added salt, sugar, or fat at participating stores. At Safeway stores, a coupon for $10 off your next purchase of eligible fruits and vegetables will automatically print on your receipt. At Community Food Co-op Stores, a $5 discount will be applied to your purchase.

Yes! You can use SNAP Produce Match online at Safeway.com. Create a Safeway account, then use your EBT card to order at least $10 of fresh, frozen, and canned fruits and vegetables with no added salt, sugar, or fat. After you checkout, a coupon will be added to your Safeway account.

Yes, coupons expire one month from the date the coupon is printed. The exact expiration date will be printed on the coupon.
